The Canary Islands are a place that is high on most travelers’ bucket lists. Pictures of their rugged landscape can be seen extensively online which fuels travelers’ interest. Timanfaya National Park
This national park is famous for its landscape that has been described as “Martian.” The park is entirely volcanic, and the area beneath the ground is so hot that when dry brush is thrown into a hole the brush immediately catches on fire. There are coach tours that take visitors throughout the park so they can get a full view of the volcanic landscape. You can even ride a camel through the park. Timanfaya National Park is one of those rare places that is like no other on Earth, which makes it a must see when you come to Lanzarote.
Surfing, Snorkeling, and Scuba Diving
After seeing one picture of Lanzarote’s craggy beaches with dark brown sand you will be searching for flights to Lanzarote. The surfing is renowned in Lanzarote because of the high standard of waves. There are enough reefs and rocks in the ocean to create waves that would challenge any surfer. If surfing isn’t your style, there are also many opportunities for snorkeling and scuba diving. The beautiful reefs and wide variety of tropical fish will make for a great day under the water. Lanzarote is known for its beaches, and after spending some time in the water surrounding those beaches it’s easy to see why.

The Caves of Los Verde
These caves are another unique experience that can only be found in Lanzarote. They were formed by lava flows so they have a wax-like texture like a melted candle. The lowest part of the cave has even been transformed into a concert hall. It’s one of the few venues where the hall is more impressive than the act! Going to these caves would make for a unique day trip.
Lanzarote hosts over a million tourists a year, and with the amount of activities available it’s easy to see why. Lanzarote is a great place to go if you want a beach holiday with a unique twist. After all, not too many beach resorts are near an active volcano. Lanzarote is the perfect destination if you’re looking for a relaxing holiday with an exciting twist.
